Analyzing the content of conversation textbook for undergraduate students: A case study of An-Najah National University, Palestine

Teaching conversation skills is a difficult task for teachers and requires careful attention when selecting the textbook that best suits learners' needs interests in addition to their different learning dispositions. This study proposes system analyzing content of English second-year undergraduate students An-Najah National University according five major rubrics: topic consistency, frequency drill use, type syllabus, self-expressing activities, appropriate language they use. These rubrics, which include dispositions, determine appropriateness or inappropriateness used teaching oral communication depending on level existence absence textbook. After textbook, it was found lacks creative interactive activities. Besides, revealed there are not enough exercises practise naturally authentically. Based these results, researcher recommended specialists designers adequate role-playing activities problem-solving enhance students' interaction, motivation develop speaking ability constructing further textbooks.   Key words: students, rubrics communication,
